Do I own the logo outright?
Yes. On final payment, full ownership of the delivered marks transfers to you, including the source vector files.
What if none of the first directions work?
That is what the revision rounds are for. If the direction is wrong rather than the execution, we go back to the brief and explore again rather than iterating on something that was never right.
Will the logo work at small sizes?
It is tested at favicon size before delivery. A mark that only reads on a billboard has failed at the job most logos actually do.
